More information

The OchraVine Control project aims at developing and implementing integrated and innovative precision strategies for the reduction of ochratoxins presence in grapes, raisins and wine.

In short

The OchraVine Control is a Horizon 2020 project that aims at effectively counter the presence of ochratoxins in vines (grapes, raisins and wine) through precision farming methods. Ochratoxins are cancerogenic mycotoxins that are mainly produced by different species of fungi of the Aspergillus and Penicillium genera.

The project has the goal to crate a smart integrated system for the management and control of the sour rot and ochratoxin A (OTA) in viticulture through the combination of biological and chemical control of the ochratoxin-producing fungi at the pre- and post-harvest stage.

The project will be conducive to the transfer of technology and the cooperation between universities and companies, while it will contribute to the immediate and efficient channelling of available resources to the promoting of research activities and the implementation of innovations to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

NEUROPUBLIC, due to our experience in the development of decision support systems as well as in the design and manufacturing of telemetry station for the collection of atmospheric and soil measurement from the field, will focus on the cultivation methods that reduce the emergence of OTA, as well as on the design and realization of the decision support system for the project.

Moreover, in the project’s scope, NEUROPUBLIC will be hosting researchers from two foreign Universities for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and cooperating on issues of analysis and modelling of environmental data that come in from its telemetry stations. Additionally, the cooperation will have to do with the application of precision farming techniques for the timely forecast of infection and risk assessment.
